Presidents and Famous People We Are Related To
Now this is an interesting story. Captain John Minor is famous in his own right, and lots of important people have descended from him, but apparently the Withrows have a double connection. On the Withrow side, through Earl B Withrow (my grandfather), Captain John Minor is my 8th GGF. On the Gleason side, through Eula Gleason (my grandmother), Captain John Minor is also my 8th GGF. Captain John Minor’s son Thomas and his descendants begat Earl B Withrow. Captain John Minor’s daughter Abigail and her descendants begat Eula Gleason. Therefore, the Minor family began with Captain John and were reunited through the marriage of Earl B Withrow and Eula Gleason, my grandparents. NO, This is not incest :).

Early settler, interpreter, and teacher to the Indians
1635-1719
His occupation is listed as trained as an “interpreter and teacher to the indians” in New London, Connecticut. He settled in Woodbury, CT in the spring of 1673 where he was the town clerk for 30 years. It is through John Minor that we are related to Ulysses S Grant, Charles Goodyear, Connecticut Govenor William T Minor and the Rockefellers were descended from his brother Ephraim.
